Business Opportunities - Brisbane 2032
As a co-host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032, Townsville will take centre stage as a host city helping to deliver one of the world’s largest sporting events. The Games will attract investment, bring global attention to our city and create lasting benefits for local businesses and industries.
We are committed to preparing our city and local businesses to be ‘Games-ready’. This includes progressing our Townsville 2032 Legacy Action Plan 2025 - 2028 and building long-term opportunities that strengthen our economy and deliver benefits well beyond 2032.

Procurement opportunities for businesses of all sizes
The Games offer Townsville businesses a rare opportunity to provide goods and services for one of the world’s biggest and most recognisable sporting events, right here in our region.
From sole traders and family-owned businesses to emerging start-ups, large manufacturers and consortiums, the scale of the Games creates opportunities for a broad range of suppliers. Demand is expected across many industries, including:
- infrastructure, building and maintenance
- hospitality, food services, cleaning and waste management
- tourism, accommodation, transport and travel services
- professional services, technology, health, sport technology, event management and security.
Accessible and inclusive design
The Games aim to set a new benchmark for accessibility, creating valuable opportunities for businesses specialising in access and inclusion.
Specialist expertise is expected to be in strong demand in areas such as:
- inclusive, accessible infrastructure and design
- digital accessibility and innovative platforms
- adaptive products and technologies
- services and programs designed for people of all abilities.
For local suppliers, this is an opportunity to help create a more inclusive Townsville region and a positive legacy for the community that extends well beyond the Games.
Backing First Nations businesses
Consistent with our procurement principles, Townsville City Council supports inclusive purchasing practices and strongly encourages partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses. These partnerships can generate meaningful cultural, social and economic outcomes for First Nations communities that endure beyond 2032.
Creating a sustainable future
Sustainability is a central priority for the Games. Businesses that demonstrate sound environmental practices—such as lowering carbon emissions, applying circular economy principles or using resources responsibly—will be well positioned. It is an opportunity to build future resilience into your business while contributing to lasting environmental outcomes for our region.
