Every day, Council teams deliver essential projects and local improvements that make Townsville a better, more sustainable place to live, and keep our communities safe and well-connected.

  • Projects – Black Spot Funded

    Every year, Council nominates a number of projects that are eligible to receive Black Spot funding from the Australian Government.
  • Projects – Magnetic Island

    $13.8 million will be invested this financial year on Magnetic Island on community infrastructure, renewal of water and wastewater assets to road projects.
  • Projects – Suburban Water Security

    Council’s 2021/22 Budget includes a $177 million investment in water infrastructure and services, continuing our strong focus on the city’s water security.
  • Projects – Works for Queensland (W4Q)

    Queensland Government's Works for Queensland (W4Q) program supports regional councils to undertake job-creating maintenance and minor infrastructure projects.
  • Aquatic Weed Trial

    Council in conjunction with CSIRO and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) are conducting aquatic weed management trials in Townsville.
  • Bushland Beach Channel Naturalisation

    This project will help address community concerns over the drain adjacent to Peggy Banfield Park in Bushland Beach and allow residents to provide feedback.
  • Castle Hill Road & Stanley Street Slope Remediation

    Townsville City Council plans to undertake rockfall protection and slope stabilisation remedial works along the Stanley Street cutting and Castle Hill Road.
  • Mitchell, Gregory, and Eyre Street Pathway Upgrade

    Townsville City Council is preparing to upgrade the paved pathway alongside Northward Shopping Village and the northern stretch of Gregory Street between Warburton and Mitchell Streets.
  • Riverbank Restoration Project

    Council has secured funding for riverbank restoration works in a variety of locations throughout Townsville.
  • Roadside Wildlife Reflector (Virtual Fencing) Trial

    A sequential warning system that alerts animals with sound and flashing lights before they cross the road as a vehicle’s headlights flash a reflector on a pole.
  • Townsville Parking Expansion

    Around 95 solar-powered parking meters are being installed across the city to improve the turnover of parking bays and the level of amenities.
