The Townsville City Council has proposed to make the new local laws and subordinate local laws:
During the period for receipt of submissions, copies of the local laws and subordinate local laws are open for inspection at Council’s Customer Service Centres located at 103 Walker Street, Townsville and 86 Thuringowa Drive, Thuringowa.

(a) balances community expectations with the rights of individuals; and
(b) protects the community against risks to health and safety; and

The objects of this interim local law are to--
(a) regulate certain activities in parks and on roads to ensure appropriate standards of conduct.
(b) protect the safety and convenience of persons using parks and roads.
Pursuant to section 13(2) of the Local Government Reform Implementation Regulation 2008, Townsville City Council applies Local Law No. 51 (Control of Intoxicating Liquor) to the whole of the local government area of Townsville City Council without changes.
