Child Safety Reporting
Townsville City Council is committed to creating safe, supportive and respectful environments for all children and young people.
Under Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme, Council has strengthened how we prevent, identify and respond to concerns about child safety.
If you have witnessed, experienced or become aware of behaviour that may place a child at risk, you can report it confidentially through our secure online portal.
Make a confidential report
What happens after you submit a report?
Council follows a structured process to assess and respond to all concerns.
Once a report is received:
- Initial assessment – We review the information and assess immediate risk
- Notification – Where required, matters are notified to the Queensland Family and Child Commission
- Investigation – Allegations are investigated in a fair, timely and confidential manner
- Action – Appropriate steps are taken to protect children and address the behaviour.
Under the Scheme, organisations must notify the Commission within strict timeframes and manage allegations through a formal investigation process.
Your privacy and confidentiality
We understand that reporting a concern can be difficult.
Council will:
- treat all information with strict confidentiality
- respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with legislation
- take steps to protect those who make reports from victimisation or disadvantage.
Immediate danger
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.
For other urgent child protection concerns, contact the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs or Policelink on 131 444.
