Milestone | Date | Explanation |

Notice of Election | Tuesday 7 October 2025 at 10am | The Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) is required to issue a Notice of Election, which will contain a date for the election and the cut-off day for the electoral roll. The Notice will herald the start of the election and be published to the ECQ's website. |
Close of Electoral Roll | Monday 13 October 2025 at 5pm | The electoral roll contains details of all electors eligible to cast their vote at the by-election and will be in place from this date and time. |
Close of Nominations | Thursday 16 October 2025 at 12 noon | The close of nominations must be not less than 8 or more than 18 days after the publication of the notice of election and not less than 18 or more than 42 days before the election. |
Ballot Draw | Thursday 16 October 2025 at 2.30pm | The ballot draw is conducted by the Returning Officer to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper. Candidates and the public are invited to attend. Postal ballots are produced only after the ballot order draw. |
Polling Day | Saturday 15 November 2025 | Postal ballots must be completed before 6pm on polling day, and counting will commence at 6pm on polling day. |
Last Day for Return of Postal Votes | Tuesday 25 November 2025 at 5pm | All postal votes must be received by this date, and late postal votes cannot be included in the count. |
Results Declaration | As soon as practicable after the result becomes clear | The ECQ will declare the outcome of the election as soon as possible after polling day. If the number of outstanding postal votes is greater than the difference between the leading candidates, the ECQ must wait until the cut-off day for postal ballots and conduct a final count before declaring the elected candidate. Candidates and the CEO of Council will be advised in writing. Council must publish a Notice of Results to its website that will be provided to them by the ECQ. |
