Project Background
A review of Council's infrastructure identified that several assets along Murray Street are nearing the end of their service life and require renewal.
The Murray Street Roadworks and Services Upgrade will improve the condition, safety and reliability of the road and underground infrastructure for residents and road users.
Project Overview
Stage 1 of the project saw the successful completion of culvert strengthening works at the corner of Gregory Street. These works strengthened the existing structure, extended its service life and removed the previous 4.5 tonne load limit.
Council is now undertaking Stage 2 of the project, which focuses on renewing ageing road, drainage, water and wastewater infrastructure along Murray Street.
Project Benefits
Once complete, the project will:
- improve the condition, safety and reliability of Murray Street
- provide a smoother road surface for motorists
- improve stormwater drainage
- increase the reliability of water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure
- reduce ongoing maintenance requirements
- extend the life of important community assets.
