Animal Care and Adoption Centre
If you have found a stray or wandering animal and want to report this to Council, please contact us on 13 48 10. Alternatively, if it is safe to do so, Council encourages members of the public to hand over stray animals at the Animal Care and Adoption Centre during opening hours.

Keep checking here. Any stray animal found and brought to the Animal Care and Adoption Centre is uploaded here within 24 hours.

The Animal Care and Adoption Centre is located at 69 Tompkins Road, Shaw.
Visits are by appointment only.

Reclaiming your Pet
To retrieve a missing animal in Council’s care, we must be contacted within five (5) days from the date found.
What you need to know:
- Identification and proof of ownership are required.
- Unregistered dogs and cats cannot be released until registration and approval is completed.
- Release fees may apply (see the Animal Management Fees and Charges for details).
- Payment is by EFTPOS only.
All animals will be held for up to five (5) days from the date they are found to allow owners the opportunity to reclaim them. Animals not collected within the reclaim period will be assessed for rehoming suitability through the Animal Care and Adoption Centre.
