Budget 2025/26

Townsville City Council has handed down its budget and operational plan for the 2025/26 financial year.

The 2025/26 $928.2 million budget is built on basics and backed by innovation. This budget reflects Council’s commitment to delivering services, responsibly managing ratepayer funds, and strengthening the city’s financial future. This budget also places Council on track to return to surplus earlier than previously forecast.

The Townsville City Council 2025/26 Budget and Operational Plan was adopted at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Wednesday 18 June 2025.

What this Budget means for you

For every $100 of your rates, $4.43 goes into Environmental and Sustainability Services, $5.63 into Planning and Development, $14.84 into Cultural and Community Services, $20.61 into Parks and Open Space Management, $4.73 into Drain and Stormwater Management and $49.76 into Roads and Transport Management

For every $100 of your utilities, $55.44 goes into Water Services, $26.07 into Wastewater Services and $18.49 into Resource Recovery
