Baby expo to feature at this year's Eco Fiesta

Date published: 19 April 2016

This year’s Eco Fiesta at Queen’s Gardens will feature a market-style expo focussing on young children and babies.

The Welcoming Babies Expo is an opportunity for businesses and groups to promote all things related to the city’s youngest residents and will be a wonderful chance for families to get loads of information and products in the one location.

Eco Fiesta, to be held May 29 this year, sees thousands of residents enjoy displays, stalls, children’s amusements, food and entertainment every year.

The day also features the annual mid-year Welcoming Babies Ceremonies to officially welcome the city’s newest citizens.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle encouraged businesses and groups to register their participation.

“The Welcoming Babies Expo is designed to offer local groups, individuals and businesses with an opportunity to promote their products, business and activities,” Cr Doyle said.

“It will give residents a chance to see what Townsville has to offer young families in the region while enjoying all the fun of the Eco Fiesta event.”

Sites are free for non-profit groups or businesses prepared to offer a prize in lieu of site payment.

For all other commercial organisations, the site fee is only $25 plus GST for the entire day.

Council will provide a single trestle table and two chairs to each exhibitor at no charge.

To register for a site or for the Welcoming Babies Ceremony visit council’s website Townsville.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 878 001.

The Welcoming Babies Expo will begin at 8am, Sunday, May 29 prior to the opening of Eco Fiesta at 9am. The event finishes at 3pm.
