Events portal offers entertainment at your fingertips

Date published: 24 May 2016

Townsville City Council will tomorrow launch an exciting, community-wide events portal to offer residents information on what’s happening in Townsville.

The What’s On Townsville website allows residents to search events happening today, this week, or this month, or by event category, for everything from community events, to exhibitions, theatre and shows, workshops and programs, sporting events and much more.

Councillor Margie Ryder said the portal was all about bringing people together through live experiences.

“At the click of a button on your phone or your desktop you can now discover events that match your interests and passions or simply browse through to find something that interests you,” Cr Ryder said.

“Event organisers can add their events at no cost through the website, and once approved by council’s community information centre, is then live for the world to see.

“What’s On Townsville is the North’s ultimate event guide and offers a one-stop shop for events for all ages across the region.”

The events can also be “liked” and “shared” through social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.

Residents can also sign up to council’s What’s On e-newsletter and receive up to date entertainment information direct.
