Townsville City Council announced Mr Mike Chiodo has today taken over as the acting Director of Infrastructure and Operations.

Mr Chiodo, currently employed at the Council, takes over the reins from longstanding Director Mr Neil Allen who foreshadowed his retirement late last year.

Mr Allen will continue assisting with transformation projects in the infrastructure division until his formal retirement on June 30.

Mr Chiodo’s most recent role was Chief Executive of the Department of Local Government, Community Services and the Office of Aboriginal Affairs for the Northern Territory Government.  In this role, Mike was responsible for infrastructure provision, organisational reform and service delivery across urban, regional and remote communities.

Mike was also the General Manager of Infrastructure in the Northern Territory with responsibility for the delivery of all Capital Works, Repairs and Maintenance and Major Projects across the Territory.

Townsville City Council CEO Ms Adele Young said she was confident the city would continue to benefit from a Director with Mr Chiodo’s experience.

“I am delighted to have someone with Mike’s experience and track record join the new team at council with a clear focus on delivering infrastructure for the community.”

Mr Allen has been Townsville City Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Operations since 21 May 2007.  Mike has been appointed as Acting Director until December 31, 2017.
