Date published: 7 March 2017

A presentation at Thuringowa Library tomorrow evening will explore the history of combat acquired PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), known at different times as Soldier’s Heart and Shell Shock.

The informative talk will be presented by Fairlie Sandilands, combined with readings by local actor Michael Sams from the diary of Daniel Dwyer who served in WWI and who has a street named after him in Townsville.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said CityLibraries was always seeking ways to connect with the community and provide interesting information that may be valuable to residents.

“One of the library’s roles is to build capacity, knowledge and confidence in our community,” Cr Doyle said.

“Libraries aren’t just about books.”

The presentation will be held from 7-8pm at Thuringowa library. Bookings required 4773 8811 or on the website: whatson.townsville.qld.gov.au. This event is free to attend.
