Date published: 2 April 2018

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group remains on stand-by after Tropical Cyclone Iris reformed in the Coral Sea today.

Deputy Local Disaster Management Group Chair Councillor Kurt Rehbein said authorities would continue to monitor TC Iris over the coming days.

“Tropical Cyclone Iris reformed in the Coral Sea this morning and the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group will continue to closely monitor the weather system and provide regular updates to the community,” Cr Rehbein said.

“According to the advice we’ve had from the Bureau of Meteorology, there is a chance of significant rainfall tomorrow and Wednesday.

“Motorists should drive to the wet conditions and always remember - if it’s flooded, forget it.

“We recommend residents check the Townsville Emergency Management Dashboard for the latest information.”

The Emergency Management Dashboard provides the most up-to-date advice on weather warnings, road closures, power outages, and school closures.
