Mayor Jenny Hill helping spread cheer this Christmas

Date published: 21 December 2018

Santa is here early for Townsville residents who received hampers as part of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal (MCTA) today.

The 1000 hampers were created thanks to the generous donations of community members to the Appeal.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said she was incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to the Appeal and made this happen.

“This year the Appeal has partnered with PFD Food Services to create hampers that have been distributed to residents doing it a bit tough over the festive season,” Cr Hill said.

“Townsville has raised nearly $100,000 which has gone towards making a real difference to our community.

“These hampers include everything needed to prepare a proper meal and give residents the opportunity to Celebrate Christmas Together.”

Southern Cross Austereo also provided support to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal by holding a toy drive with the gifts being delivered to children across Townsville.
