Adopt a meow-nificent new friend

Date published: 26 November 2018

Townsville City Council is calling all cat lovers with an oppawtunity to find a fur-ever friend with a discount on cat adoptions this Meow-vember.

There are over 30 cats and kittens available for adoption with the discount available from today through to 1 December.

Community Health and Environment Committee Chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney said Meow-vember is a way for residents to meet a fur-ever friend while saving money.

“Council is offering $40 off for cats and $50 off for kittens – I encourage residents to not pro-cat-stinate because this deal won’t last long,” Cr Greaney said.

“There are some loveable cats waiting for the purr-fect family to take them home.”

Cr Greaney said all the animals are microchipped, desexed and vaccinated before they are adopted out.

“If your pet does go missing, we can contact and reunite you in next to no time,” Cr Greaney said.

“Council encourages responsible pet ownership and we want the community to understand that adopting a pet is a long-term decision.”

You can adopt your new cat at Council Animal Shelter – 69 Tompkins Road, Shaw.

If people wish to adopt a pet they will need to ensure that their property is pet friendly.
