Council’s Christmas celebrations to light up the City

Date published: 30 November 2018

Townsville City will light up for the festive season during tomorrow night’s Christmas in the City event.

Townsville City Council is inviting residents to Celebrate Christmas Together with the official turning on of the lights and free family entertainment.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said Christmas in the City is a fantastic way for the community to embrace the holiday spirit.

“Christmas in the City is the perfect elf-vent to mark the start of the festive season,” Cr Hill said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing residents enjoying a night of lights and entertainment.”

Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said Christmas in the City will really bring the CBD to life.

“The city centre is going to look magical this Christmas – there are lights throughout Flinders Street and along Victoria Bridge along with roving entertainment and a main stage,” Cr Greaney said.

“I hope the community can make it to the city and enjoy the festivities, they may be able to find a gift at our Artist Markets or enjoy a par-toy with our local performers giving a great show.”
