Council clears blocked sewer line

Council crews have cleared a sewer line blockage in Kirwan.

Residents living in and near Burnda St can now use their washing machines as wastewater is flowing freely through the sewer.

Mayor Jenny Hill thanked residents for their patience while repairs went on during the night.

“Residents played their part by not using their washing machines or taking long showers,” Cr Hill said.

“That helped Council crews to fix the blockage to the sewer and prevent major overflows.

“Wastewater is now travelling freely through the sewer.”

Council crews will continue to clear any remaining debris from the sewer line over the weekend.

Council understands that contractors working on a private development dumped construction debris into the sewer line yesterday.
