Northern Fringe Festival to return in 2020

Date published: 27 November 2019

Townsville City Council is putting the call out to all artists, performers or entertainers and venues, coffee spaces or nooks and crannies across the city – the Northern Fringe Festival is back for 2020.

Council is hosting an information night in December where anyone interested can find out how to get involved in North Australia’s premier arts and culture festival.

Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Cr Colleen Doyle said this is the best way for the community to get their questions answered before signing up in December.

“Council is holding this information night, so our community is equipped with all the knowledge they need to be a part of our Northern Fringe Festival,” Cr Doyle said.

“This year we held the inaugural North Australian Festival of Arts and fringe festival and we’re hoping that next year will be even bigger and better.

“The Fringe Festival is the perfect way for our community artists, organisations, locations and everyone in between to take the spotlight for a month of entertainment.”

The information night is being held on December 4 and registrations close 5pm this Friday.

Cr Doyle encouraged anyone interested to register their attendance and find out more.

“The Northern Fringe Festival is about celebrating art in all its forms and providing a platform for some our incredible home-grown talent,” Cr Doyle said.

“I’d love to see everyone come along to the information night and see what they can do to play a part in building NAFA in the years to come.”
