Townsville City Council is inviting the public into the city’s most sustainably run house to learn how to incorporate eco-friendly ideas into their lives this Sunday.

Rowes Bay House Open Day will open the curtain on best-practice sustainability habits for suburban homes in Townsville.

Community Health and Environment Committee Chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney said it was easier to be eco-minded now more than ever.

“Rowes Bay House is a prime example of how simple tricks and tips can transform the way you run your house,” Cr Greaney said.

“At the open day you will be able to learn how to be more sustainable around your home and in your garden from Council’s sustainability team.”

Cr Greaney said the open day wasn’t just for adults.

“Kids love getting involved in the garden and learning about how different plants and animals can thrive in their own backyard,” she said.

“This is an open day that is suited to the whole family so everyone can learn how to have a greener household.”

The Rowes Bay House Open Day runs from 8.30am to 1.30pm on Sunday, 15 September at the Rowes Bay Sustainability centre on Cape Pallarenda Rd.

Entry is free.
