NAFA wins second Australian Event Award

Townsville’s North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA) has been awarded the 2022 winner of the Australian Event Awards for Best Regional Event.

Australian Event Awards is a national awards program where Australian event professionals compete across the nation and across all facets of the industry to establish which are Australia’s best events.

Townsville City Council’s Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said she was proud to see the festival receive its second Australian Event Awards for Best Regional Event win.

“NAFA is a huge boon to our economy and had a bumper year with more than 50,000 attendees. Council is proud to bring first class experiences to Townsville and the region, NAFA is a major source of pride for our region, and supports local, national and international artists doing what they love in North Queensland,” Cr Greaney said.

“To see NAFA recognised on the national stage for a second time just goes to show how strong this festival is in its fourth year.

“Council is honoured to have been nominated alongside Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2022, Outback Queensland Masters 2021, Youth Adventures Series 2022, and Million Dollar Fish Season 7 2021/22. These are the pinnacle of Australian events and to have our festival compete against them shows that we’re in great company.”
