Take a journey through Townsville’s water cycle from catchment to tap!
Learn about how we source, treat and supply drinking water to the Townsville community. Discover the importance of water conservation, water for the environment, and what happens beyond the tap.

Dates and Times
This tour is available Monday to Thursday.
Each session is up to 1.5 hours (90 minutes) long.
Location
Douglas Water Treatment Plant, Angus Smith Drive, Douglas (map).
Turn right at the first roundabout near Townsville Hospital on Angus Smith Drive. Follow Angus Smith Drive for approximately 3.4km, and then turn right into the facility. There will be a drop-off point for the bus, where Council Officers will meet you.
Requirements
There is a maximum of 25 students and 2 teachers allowed in this tour. One teacher or adult is required for every 10 students attending.
All tour participants must wear closed-in footwear.
