Get Active Expo calls for 2022 exhibitors

The Get Active Expo is expanding in 2022 to spread across Townsville Stadium and Townsville Basketball to pack even more action into the highly anticipated event.

To make the event bigger and better than ever, Townsville City Council is calling for sport, recreation, health and fitness clubs and organisations to sign up to exhibit at the event on Sunday January 16 next year.

Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Maurie Soars said this event would be bigger and better than ever before.

“The Get Active Expo is one of our most popular events with thousands of visitors coming through the doors each year, which is why we’ve decided to expand in 2022 to bring more exhibitors, more activities and more visitors to the expo,” Cr Soars said.

“This event is a showstopper each year and we want 2022 to be even better, so we want all potential exhibitors to get their registrations in now.

“The expo gives sports clubs and fitness and recreation groups a great avenue to reach out to potential new members and show them what getting active their way is all about.”

Cr Soars said being active during all stages of life was important for physical health and mental wellbeing.

“It’s never too early or too late to start incorporating a good dose of healthy activity into your life,” Cr Soars said.

“We have a wealth of sports teams in Townsville that cater to tiny tots right up to senior grade players, but we also have plenty of non-competitive groups and clubs that cater to all levels of physical fitness.

“Being part of these clubs and groups not only gives you a physical outlet, but it’s also an easy way to make friends and let your mind take a break from the hassles of daily life.”
