Book your kids in for Summer Reading Club these holidays

Date published: 21 December 2022

Explore reading through a whole new lens with The Summer Reading Club these school holidays.

The Summer Reading Club is delivered by the State Library of Queensland and supported by CityLibraries Townsville.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the program aimed to maintain literacy levels and avoid the summer slide during the Christmas school holidays.

“By signing your kids and teens up to the Summer Reading Club, they’ll be able to have free access to reading materials, resources and holiday programming through CityLibraries Townsville,” Cr Greaney said.

“CityLibraries Townsville is also providing a range of activities during the school holidays to support the Summer Reading Club, including Storywalks at Aplins Weir Rotary Park and Riverway, Where’s Errol? pop-ups in parks across Townsville, and school holiday activities at CityLibraries Aitkenvale and Flinders Street.

“As a parent myself, I know how important it is to keep your kids engaged during the school holidays so they can thrive in the new school year, so I’d highly recommend parents and caregivers check out the Summer Reading Club to see how it can benefit their kids these holidays.”

CityLibraries Summer Reading Club runs until 20 January 2022.
