King tides expected from Saturday

Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of king tides expected from Saturday 16 May 2026.
The king tide is forecast to reach 3.78m at 8:59pm on Saturday, followed by further peaks of 3.81m at 9:47pm on Sunday and 3.73m at 10:41pm on Monday.
Council recommends residents in areas prone to minor flooding during king tides take necessary precautions.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
