Supercar fans will get the chance to meet their heroes when the Townsville 400 Super Welcome returns to Riverway on Thursday (July 6).

The event, held the day before the Watpac Townsville 400 kicks off, will include a jam-packed evening of free family fun including a free screening of the movie Turbo.

Deputy Mayor Les Walker said the Super Welcome was council’s signature event to officially launch the race weekend.

“This is a unique opportunity to meet all 25 drivers and teams, get their autographs and snap a few photos,” Cr Walker said

“The drivers will be signing from 4.30pm, and there’ll also be free amusements for the kids, food stalls and the aptly-themed movie Turbo on the outdoor screen, so be sure to bring your blankets to make a night of it.

“We’ll also be giving away a three-day Townsville 400 double pass with entry forms available in the Townsville Bulletin on the day of the event.

“This is an event for fans of all ages, who love everything related to V8 Supercars.”

The Super Welcome will be held on Thursday, July 6 from 4pm under the trees at Riverway.
