Festival a celebration of youth

Date published: 31 March 2017

Murray Skate Park will be a hive of activity this Saturday for Youthfest, a celebration of the annual National Youth Week.

Townsville City Council is supporting the celebration that will kick off at 5pm with free activities, competitions and live music until 9pm.

Entertainment will include live music by a number of local artists including Nicole Cross, the Renegade Handmade Youth Market, a movie screening of The Wiz, amusements and food vendors.

The event is expected to draw youths from right across the region.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said the event would not only offer a chance for Townsville’s youth to meet and interact, but to voice concerns and to network.

“Events such as this are a great opportunity for youth to get together in a supportive environment and to share ideas,” Cr Doyle said.

“National Youth Week is an opportunity for young people to think about their roles in our community and how they can contribute and make it an even better place.”

The National Youth Week’s Youthfest event at Murray Skate Park (opposite Townsville Stadium) will run from 5pm until 9pm this Saturday, (April 1). The event is free!

National Youth Week runs 31 March – 9 April.
