Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens turned pink on Sunday for the opening of the new Breast Cancer Awareness Garden.

The garden, featuring a mass of pink flowering trees and shrubs, officially opened to kick-start Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Acting Mayor Cr Vern Veitch joined representatives from Dragons Abreast, Encore and Livin Laughin and Lovin It to open the garden.

"Throughout the gardens you can find signage with key words for people to reflect on the meaning of breast cancer and the rotunda has been turned pink," Cr Veitch said.

"The pink rotunda is a tranquil place for people to unwind, enjoy the fresh air and connect with others. It is dedicated to those affected by breast cancer, but everyone is welcome to enjoy it."
