New floor to make its debut at first Crocs home game

The Townsville City Council will deliver a new timber floor at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre under budget and ahead of the first Crocodiles home game on October 9.
The timber from Canada is being installed by a specialist team today and tomorrow, and meets the FIBA Level 1 competition standards.
Infrastructure Committee chair Trevor Roberts said preparations for the install had gone smoothly and at this stage it appeared the floor would be ready for use as early as next Tuesday.
"To have the floor ready ahead of the first Crocodiles home game of the season is great news and a big effort by council’s property management staff," Cr Roberts said.
"The project also is expected to come in at about $100,000 under the original $375,000 budget.
"As well as upgrading the floor for Crocodiles home games, the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre was identified as a Commonwealth Games venue for basketball for the 2018 Games.
"To take advantage of this opportunity, it was vital to make this investment and upgrade the floor to the regulation standard."
Once the floor installation is complete, line marking will be done and a Permacoat protective coating will be applied.
