Date published: 1 February 2019

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group will continue to monitor outflows from the Ross River Dam and downstream flood levels overnight.

Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) Chair Mayor Jenny Hill said experts will monitor the situation around the clock.

“The TLDMG will provide residents with the most up-to-date information as it becomes available,” Cr Hill said

“It is important that everyone in our community is safe and we are doing everything possible to minimise the flooding impacts throughout our city.

“I’d like to thank residents for their cooperation today and listening to the advice of emergency services and Council crews.

“Residents should be aware that the city’s Local Disaster Coordination Centre will be staffed around the clock to provide a base of operations for the TLDMG.”
