Two mobile CCTV trailers have been placed at Bushland Beach thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Townsville City Council and the Queensland Police Service (QPS).

Council has installed the trailers to assist the QPS in managing an increase in anti-social behaviour in the Bushland Beach area to support the existing CCTV infrastructure at the skatepark.

A Council spokesperson said the MoU with Police is invaluable for providing support to the community.

“Having a strong working relationship with our local police allows us to pool resources for the benefit of residents across the city,” the spokesperson said.

“This is a good collaboration between Council and QPS that will complement the work they are doing to protect our residents.”

Acting Chief Superintendent Glen Pointing said having access to the cameras is of great benefit to both officers and the community.

“The Townsville City Council is a key Queensland Police Service partner with whom we work very closely,” Acting Chief Superintendent Pointing said.

“The use of their camera network provides us with great assistance in making the community safe.”
