Date published: 20 November 2025
One of this year’s biggest box office smashes is coming in hot to Riverway Movie Nights this Friday.
Get the whole family together to enjoy this free screening of A Minecraft Movie from 7pm at Riverway Oval.
Townsville Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the movie was a huge crowd pleaser, with Jack Black’s signature comedy style sure to keep both kids and kids-at-heart entertained.
“Council’s Riverway Movie Nights are one of the best ways to spend some quality time with the whole family without having to break the bank,” Cr Greaney said.
“Families have hit the jackpot with this Jack Black and Jason Momoa movie based on the video game Minecraft, which follows four misfits embarking on a quest to escape a cubic world.
“And there’s even better news for kids and teenagers: Riverway Movie Nights is held outdoors, so you can recreate the chicken jockey scene to your heart’s content.”
Cr Greaney said Riverway Movie Nights was designed to be accessible for families of all backgrounds.
“We want Riverway Movie Nights to be a fun outdoor event that absolutely everyone can enjoy, so if you need us to activate captions for the screening just give us a call on 13 48 10 a couple of days in advance,” Cr Greaney said.
“This free event is a great excuse to pack some snacks, let your little ones run off some energy and enjoy a wholesome night out with the family, so come on down and make the most of it.”
