Castle Hill’s summit walking tracks will soon feature new barrier fencing.

Council today awarded the $360,000 Design and Construction of Castle Hill Summit Track Improvements contract to to Naturform Pty Ltd

The project will be delivered in two stages over two financial years.

Funding to the value of $175,000 was made available through the State Government’s Scenic Lookout Upgrade Program, with council providing the balance.

Infrastructure Committee chair Cr Mark Molachino said the work would upgrade existing barrier fencing to walking tracks leading from the summit car park as well as improve furniture and signage.

“The work will minimise environmental impacts and deliver a quality product and improved safety for the high number of visitors we receive on Castle Hill, as well as reduce ongoing maintenance costs,” Cr Molachino said.

“Castle Hill is our most loved landmark and having the summit looking its best is important for our city’s image.”

Other summit improvement works will include upgrades to the furniture, signage and improved paths to the various lookout areas.
