Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal providing 1000 hampers to Townsville residents in need

Date published: 14 December 2018

The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal (MCTA) is wrapping up with the hampers being packed, ready to be distributed to families in need this Christmas.

The Appeal has raised nearly $100,000 to provide support to residents doing it tough over the festive season

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said these hampers are going to make a real difference to the community.

“The money raised in the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal has contributed towards the creation of these hampers that will be distributed to Townsville families next week,” Cr Hill said.

“Townsville has an incredible community spirit and locals come together to help each other when in need – the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal is no different.

“This year PFD Food Services is partnering with us to create 1000 hampers and I’m extremely thankful to everyone who has donated or provided support in 2018 – this is what Celebrating Christmas Together is about.”
