The big top is up, the carollers have rehearsed and Townsville City Council is ready to bring you Carols By Candlelight this Sunday.

The carols, headlined by Townsville local Trent Bell, is back at Riverway Oval to spread the festive cheer ahead of Christmas.

Deputy Mayor Mark Molachino said this year’s carols were shining a light on the best and brightest Townsville talent.

“Our city is full of incredible musical talent - from singers to musicians to dancers. I’m excited to see the colourful performances that are about to take the Carols By Candlelight stage by storm this Sunday,” Cr Molachino said.

“But more than the entertainment, I’m excited to see the community come together to celebrate Christmas. Our city always has a great festive spirit during holidays and it shines brightest during Christmas.

“Carols will be back under the big top this year, so the show will go on if there are showers during the day. I’d recommend bringing a picnic blanket to sit on so you’re comfy during the performances.

“We’ll also have food trucks, kids’ rides, arts and crafts workshops, flame-safe candles available and so much more to see and do.

“If you’re driving to the carols make sure you park at Willows or Sunland Plaza and walk across to the event, as Riverway Precinct will be closed to vehicles.”

Carols By Candlelight will run from 5pm at Riverway Oval. Entry is free.
