Date published: 29 December 2022

One of Australia's leading ladies of song Melanie Parry will help the city end 2022 with a bang at Townsville Civic Theatre.

The accomplished singer returns to centre stage after her recent double album release with a brand-new show titled Follow Your Dreams, playing from 8pm at Townsville Civic Theatre on New Year’s Eve.

This incredible live performance by the decorated entertainer will also have a distinct local flair with homegrown singing talents Melissa Donges and Claire Davies supporting her as backing singers.

Townsville will also be represented in Melanie’s band on the night with professional musicians Jake Curro on guitar, Alex Leotta on drums and Damien King on bass.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney encouraged Townsville to enjoy the sweet sounds of Melanie Perry before ringing in the New Year.

“Melanie will perform songs from the stunning selection of music from her recent double album, drawn from her vast repertoire during her stage career around the world,” Cr Greaney said.

“This stems from Opera to Broadway, to some of the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s including Disco Inferno, Motown, fabulous Abba, Barry Manilow and more.

“She will also be doing a tribute to the late, great Olivia Newton John on the night, belting out some of her most popular hits.”

This spectacular show also features songs from hit Broadway musicals, Dream Girls, Sound of Music, Camelot and recent musical movie smash hits A Star Is Born and The Greatest Showman.
