Supercars road closures roll into town

As Townsville gets ready to rev up for the NTI Townsville 500, traffic management is set to roll onto Charters Towers Road and Boundary Street over the coming week, as Townsville’s street circuit comes to life.
Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said works to install the track and various other infrastructure would occur in the lead-up to the event which would see a number of road closures and traffic management in place in the weeks leading up to the event.
“As always in the lead up to the Supercars, residents can expect road closures as the event comes to life,” Cr Greaney said.
“Elements of traffic management are already underway around the racetrack precinct, with varying levels of closures and detours in place until Tuesday July 15.
“With this year marking 17 years of Supercars in Townsville, our community is well versed in these road closures, and we thank them for their patience and cooperation.”
Charters Towers Road and Boundary Street will be impacted during a week of night works from 6pm, Tuesday 24 June through to 3am, Saturday 28 June 2025.
The next phase of road closures will commence from 7:30pm on Friday 4 July 2025, which will see the Reid Park circuit closed to the public. These plans will remain in place until the conclusion of the event on the evening of Sunday 13 July 2025.
Councillor Greaney said the Reid Park circuit closure would mean the TicketShop Box Office counter at Townsville Civic Theatre would be closed to customers from Saturday 5 July and reopen at 9am on 16 July 2025, although people could still book over the phone or online.
“While people won’t physically be able to visit, you can still contact the TicketShop on 4727 9797 during business hours to book over the phone, or book online through the TicketShop website at any time,” she said.
“Similar to previous years, a regulated parking zone will be in place throughout the Supercars precinct to prevent residents who live in the area from being impacted by event parking.”
Dismantle works on Charters Tower Road will commence from 7:30pm, Monday 14 July through to 5am, Tuesday 15 July 2025.
Roads will be fully reopened by 5am, Tuesday 15 July 2025.

- Railway Avenue, Railway Estate
- Queens Road, Railway Estate
- Flowers Street, Railway Estate
- First Street, Railway Estate.
Dean Street carpark will be available on Friday 11 and Sunday 13 July 2025 only. No Supercars event parking available on Saturday 12 July 2025.
