Sing set to hit the big screen at Riverway Movie Night

Date published: 19 August 2026

A soundtrack of popular high-energy hits will be streaming from Riverway Stadium this Friday night, and live rent-free in your head into the weekend as the hit family flick Sing is projected for the August Riverway Movie Night.

Sing follows an optimistic koala named Buster Moon voiced by Academy Award winner, Matthew McConaughey, who launches a singing competition to save his struggling theatre.

The contest attracts a talented and diverse group of animal performers, each overcoming personal challenges while chasing their dreams, all while belting out the classics from Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber to Elton John, the Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

Deputy Mayor and Divisional Councillor Suzy Batkovic said the recent move to Riverway Stadium had seen attendance grow, with the free monthly event proving a popular night out for families.

“Riverway Movie Nights are always a great family night out, and this month’s screening of Sing is one the whole family can enjoy,” Cr Batkovic said.

“Filled with some of the best tracks, plenty of heart and great laughs for both the kids and parents, the movie celebrates courage, community and the power of believing in yourself.

“With the movie now at Riverway Stadium, you can choose a seat in the grandstand or bring a blanket, find a spot on the field and settle in with some snacks to enjoy the movie.”

Riverway Movie Night’s screening of Sing kicks off at Riverway Stadium at 6.30pm this Friday. Entry is free.
