The McClymonts to headline Carols By Candlelight

Country music superstars and ARIA winners The McClymonts will headline this year’s Carols By Candlelight event at Reid Park on Sunday, December 6.
The trio will join the ever-popular 1RAR Band, the Townsville Choral Society Choir plus local vocalists chosen after recent auditions.
Community and Culture Committee chair Cr Sue Blom said it was very exciting to have The McClymonts coming to Townsville for this massive festive celebration.
"This accomplished trio will no doubt be a huge drawcard for music fans and we are thrilled to have them join our annual event under the big top which is expected to attract in excess of 12,000 people," Cr Blom said.
"Townsville audiences will also hear some of the region’s most talented home-grown vocalists after council decided to hold auditions for the very first time this year.
"We had 33 people audition and have selected six soloists, a duo and a trio to perform on the night."
The successful vocalists are:
- Darryl Griffiths
- Lachlan Greenland
- Nina Lippmann
- Sandii Devietti
- Sonia Buckley
- Mell Boyce
- Tammy Moxon and Peta Cherae Peters
- Courtney Dibben, Claire Davies and Kate Retzki
As in previous years, there will be food and drinks for purchase and safe flame candles will be for sale with proceeds donated to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal.
"We invite everyone to bring their chairs and picnic blankets and join us for this family-friendly event to kick off the festive season," Cr Blom said.
The event will run from 5pm to 9pm, Sunday, December 6.
