Council Christmas closures and services

Townsville City Council offices will be closed from 3pm, Friday 23 December and reopen at 8.30am, Tuesday 3 January 2017.
The Customer Service Call Centre (1300 878 001) will also close, however it will be open from 8am-5pm on December 28, 29 and 30, and then resume regular business hours from 8.30am Tuesday 3 January.
Normal after-hours services will continue during these closures.
There will be no rest for the city’s garbos over the festive season with rubbish collections occurring as normal.
The collection of kerbside wheelie bins will continue on scheduled days and residents are reminded to ensure their bins are kerbside by 6am.
Council landfills and waste transfer stations will be closed on Christmas Day only and open for regular hours on other days.
Council’s swimming pools (Tobruk, Long Tan, Kokoda and Northern Beaches Leisure Centre) will close early on December 24 and be closed on December 25.
Riverway Lagoons, Strand Waterpark, Strand Rockpool and public beaches will be open and patrolled as per the normal schedule, weather permitting.
All CityLibraries branches (Aitkenvale, Flinders St and Thuringowa Central) and mobile library services will close operations at 3pm, Friday 23 December and re-open on Tuesday 3 January.
Loans for library items due back during the closure time will be extended.
