Free swim day at city's pools a chance to cool off

Date published: 6 December 2016

Townsville families will have the chance to cool down for free this Sunday as the city’s public pools swing open their doors for council’s Free Swim Day.

Free admission to the Tobruk, Kokoda and Long Tan Memorial Pools and the Northern Beaches Leisure Centre will be offered from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, December 11.

Community Health and Environment Committee chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney encouraged residents to make use of the free entry to find out about the programs and facilities offered at the different pools.

“Our swimming pools offer great options for people wanting to swim laps, through to fun slides for children and aquatic playgrounds for the youngest swimmers,” Cr Greaney said.

“The open day is also a great opportunity to learn about swimming lessons, pool passes and all the different classes on offer.

“The public swimming pools are conveniently located throughout the city, so everyone has easy access to these great community assets.”
