Thuringowa library closes for refurbishment

Date published: 19 February 2016

CityLibraries Thuringowa will close temporarily in February and March for a refurbishment.

The library will be closed from Monday, February 22 to Friday, February 26 and again from Friday, March 4 to Sunday, March 6.

Community and Culture Committee chair Cr Sue Blom said the refurbishment would mean new exciting and relaxing spaces including sofas, new technology and a ‘beehive’ for kids.

“Our libraries are some of the most utilised services provided by council so we want to make sure they are up to date in terms of services and facilities,” Cr Blom said.

“These changes will make the Thuringowa Library an even more comfortable and user-friendly space for residents to enjoy.”

During the refurbishment residents won’t be able to access the library, including returning books, so book loans and reservations will be extended for that period.

Café Isabella will remain open during this time.

Popular regular events such as Baby Rhyme Time and Storytime will take place at the Flinders St and Aitkenvale Libraries.
