Buskers sought for Supercars Super Street Party

Date published: 20 June 2016

Townsville City Council is calling for musicians, jugglers, acrobats, dancers and roving entertainment of all kinds as buskers for the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400 Super Street Party on July 7.

Expressions of interest are now open for the event to be held on Flinders St that will see all 26 Supercars drivers attend signing sessions in the CBD from 3.30-7.30pm.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said buskers would add colour and fun in the lead up to the massive Virgin Australia Supercar Championship event that weekend.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the people of the region to show off their talents to all the locals and visitors that will converge on Townsville for this big weekend of fast-paced racing and entertainment,” Cr Doyle said.

Buskers of all ages are welcome; however buskers under the age of 18 will need to be supervised by a parent/guardian.

Buskers will require a busker’s permit, which is free, obtainable through council’s website.

Expressions of Interest close on Wednesday, June 22.
