Townsville residents are invited to a spectacular culinary delight on the Strand in September for The Port of Townsville Gala Dinner Under the Stars.

Tickets are on sale Friday, July 1 for this special evening which is part of the T150 program to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Townsville.

The event pays tribute to the Longest Dinner on the Strand, one of the city’s biggest outdoor gala events held in 1999 to mark the opening of the Strand redevelopment.

Fine food will feature on the menu with some of Townsville’s top restaurants showcasing their best dishes matched with the finest wines.

Entertainment will include Australian music legend Daryl Braithwaite, Sydney cover band Jellybean Jam and the Serenata String Quartet.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said some of the city’s best restaurants were involved.

“Townsville boasts a number of award-winning restaurants and chefs and we’re delighted to be able to offer guests an amazing menu for this very special event,” Cr Doyle said.

“This five-star gala dinner will be an opportunity to celebrate the history of our city, under the stars with the backdrop of our stunning Strand.

“It promises to be a very memorable night.”

The Brewery will also join the celebrations by crafting its own T150 brew which will be exclusively available on the night for guests to enjoy.

Participating restaurants will include Essentially Fresh, Michel’s Restaurant, A Touch of Salt, Chef on Call Catering, Seasoned and Jam Corner.

The Port of Townsville Gala Dinner Under the Stars will be held on September 10. This is an 18+ event. Tickets for the event are $200 each.
