Family holiday up for grabs in council's Christmas raffle

Date published: 31 October 2016

One lucky family will win a seven-day holiday to the Gold Coast as the major raffle prize of this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal.

The package, donated by Escape Travel, Jetgo and the Townsville Bulletin, is only one of a swag of prizes in the raffle which is the major fundraiser for this year’s appeal.

Other prizes include shopping vouchers, gym memberships, car tyres, entertainment packs, Cowboys tickets and much more.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the bumper raffle offered a total of $10,000 worth of prizes.

“We’ve had great support from local businesses offering wonderful prizes for our raffle this year and tickets are only $2 each,” Cr Hill said.

“We rely heavily on our raffle to achieve our fundraising goal of $110,000 this year to help local families in need put food on the table for Christmas.

“We hope people come forward and support the sale of tickets, and go in the draw to win one of these great prizes.”

Escape Travel Townsville owner and manager Debbie Rains said she was excited to be a part of the appeal.

“We know how important this appeal is to the families in Townsville who are really struggling at the moment, so we were pleased to be able to assist with this major raffle prize,” Ms Rains said.

“We hope the community will support the appeal and purchase lots of tickets.”
