Aussie legends of stage and screen Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde will headline this year’s Carols By Candlelight event.

Frankie J Holden began his show business career with legendary rock group Ol’55, one of the most successful Australian recording acts of all time.

He has appeared in more than 30 films, as well as many theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show and Grease. His work in recent years includes a role in Underbelly for the Nine Network and co-hosting the travel show Discover Downunder.

Wilbur Wilde rose to prominence as saxophonist with Ol’55 and Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons. He has performed with some of the biggest names in music and became a household name during his 15-year run as a member of the house band on Hey Hey It’s Saturday.

Mayor Jenny Hill said the duo would bring their special brand of colour and humour to the event.

“These two legends of Australian Rock and Roll are a recipe for superb, crowd-pleasing entertainment,” Cr Hill said.

“They both have distinguished careers in show business - from film and television to stage and radio - and we are very excited that they will be joining our local choir, performers and musicians on stage at this year’s event.”

Local performers will be auditioning to be a part of Carols By Candlelight on September 25. Applications have already closed. The final line up will be announced November.

Carols By Candlelight will be held at Reid Park from 5pm to 9pm, Sunday, December 4.
