Rowes Bay Open House Day a chance to go green

Date published: 18 May 2017

Residents keen to become more energy and water wise are encouraged to attend the Rowes Bay Open House Day this Sunday, May 21 at the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre.

It’s an opportunity for residents to talk to experts about using greywater, smarter gardening, reducing water consumption, strengthening your lawn, solar lighting, LED lights and much more.

Community Health and Environment Committee chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney said residents could learn simple things that could have a big impact around their homes and gardens.

“For residents this is an opportunity to learn tips and information from the professionals about being more environmentally conscious and at the same time saving money,” Cr Greaney said.

“Open days such as this are always popular events for all ages with lots of things to see and do for children through to adults.”

Visitors will be treated to drinks and wood-fired pizzas and there will be an interactive kids corner and a Rowes Bay Wetland Tour.

There will also be a native plant giveaway.

The event will be held at the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre, 56 Cape Pallarenda Rd on Sunday, May 21 from 9am to 2pm.
