Townsville City Council has received a development application to create 146 residential lots at Sanctum Estate in the city’s Northern Suburbs.

Local development company Maidment Group lodged the proposal which includes 5 more stages to the residential estate and 2 public parks.

Townsville Acting Mayor and Planning and Development Committee Chair Cr Les Walker said this development application was another sign of increasing economic activity in our city.

“This application will be judged on its merits but it’s a great sign to have proposals of this size and scale being submitted to Council for a decision,” Cr Walker said.

“This proposed development shows companies such as Maidment have growing confidence in our city’s economic recovery.

“This increasing confidence in our city’s economy is helping to provide more local job opportunities right across our community.

“Major developments like this are important for our economy because they provide jobs for locals from tradespeople to real estate agents.”

Cr Walker said the area was one of Townsville’s fastest growing suburbs.

“Mount Low in the Northern Beaches is a popular area for families and it’s exciting to see that there are plans to expand the suburb,” Cr Walker said.
