Register now for Anzac Day parade

Date published: 3 March 2020

Community organisations and schools are encouraged to register their participation in this year’s Anzac Day parades in Townsville and Thuringowa.

Townsville City Council is assisting the Townsville and Thuringowa RSL sub-branches in coordinating the Anzac Day commemorations.

Registrations for the parades are now open and will close at midnight on Friday, March 20.

Mayor Jenny Hill said Anzac Day was one of the most important annual occasions in the Townsville community.

“Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War,” Cr Hill said.

“Since then, it has served as a day to commemorate those Australians who lost their lives in all the military and peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved.

“The day is also an opportunity for our proud garrison city to show respect to those servicemen and women still serving.

“It is always great to see a significant representation from our local community organisations and schools and I would encourage them to register their participation for this years’ parades.”

Registrations for the parade can be made online on What's On Townsville.
