Get groovy at Council’s 2023 Seniors Luncheon

Council’s always popular Seniors Luncheon is getting groovy this year with a disco theme for this free event on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 August at Townsville Stadium.
This annual free event is open to Townsville residents aged 65 and over and will see them enjoy a catered sit-down lunch, live entertainment from Townsville’s finest local talent, and the presentation of the 2023 Senior of the Year Awards.
This Council initiative is the biggest social event on the calendar for many Townsville residents and Mayor Jenny Hill said it was a great way for the city to pay tribute to the senior community.
“This event is a real highlight for our seniors in Townsville and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone donning their best disco gear this year,” Cr Hill said.
“Townsville is home to so many wonderful seniors doing great work in our community so this luncheon is one way Council can thank them for their outstanding contributions.
“The seniors can enjoy a great lunch and some live entertainment before we honour our nominees and winners of our Senior of the Year Awards.”
Council will be offering free transport to and from the event to anyone attending the luncheon however this needs to be done at the same time of booking with Council’s Ticketshop team.
Seniors can also look forward to the 2023 Seniors Lifestyle Expo on Tuesday 22 August that week, also taking place at Townsville Stadium.
Running from 9am until midday, the expo is a valuable chance for seniors in Townsville to learn about what the city has to offer them.
“There are so many reasons to head down to the Seniors Lifestyle Expo, whether you’re looking for information on aged care or retirement living, need some advice about health care or financial services, or you just want to find out how you can tap into the city’s social scene,” Cr Hill said.
“There are countless exhibitors who will be able to provide information that will help make life as a senior Townsville local easier, safer and more fun.”
