Townsville Bulletin Square will come alive with Chinese culture and food tomorrow morning as the official start to traditional Chinese New Year celebrations in the city.

The morning tea will feature Chinese dancing, tai-chi, lion dancing and dumplings.

Townsville Sister Cities Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said the morning tea was the beginning of month-long festivities including a formal dinner on February 8 and performances and food at the Cotters Markets on February 21.

“Council is pleased to again partner with the Townsville Chinese Club to share this rich culture and build our relationships with the Chinese community,” Cr Doyle said.
